NFL Grades: Week 13

While watching Sunday's early games, seeing the Tennessee Titans lose their fifth consecutive game, it got me thinking that maybe, just maybe, the time might be coming for Jeff Fisher to coach somewhere else.
As the longest-tenured coach in the NFL, Fisher has earned high praise and a stellar reputation as a coach -- which I agree with heartily -- but almost all things rot with age.
Ever have the best pizza ever, only to save a few slices for the next day? Not the same, right?
Fisher's tenure is starting to feel like that day-old pizza. Still looks close to being the same, but it isn't.
In the past two seasons, Fisher has had a six-game losing streak to open the 2009 season and now is in the middle of a five-game losing streak heading to Thursday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in Nashville.
It appears it will be consecutive non-playoff seasons for the Titans, barring a miracle finish in the final four games. The Titans' 17-6 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday, which has them two games behind Jacksonville in the AFC South standings, earns them a low grade here in our CBSSports.com Weekly Grades and puts the Titans in serious jeopardy of not making the playoffs.
Fisher has been with the Titans franchise for 16 full seasons and part of another (his first). He has six seasons with 10 or more victories, which seems low for a coach with the tenure he has. Fisher has always seemed to turn it around just when he needed to do so he could keep his job, which might explain the longevity.
The question now is this: Does he want to turn it around with the Titans?
There are some out there speculating that Fisher would be fine if he were fired, that maybe he's ready to move on. I actually heard somebody say he's trying to get fired. That's absurd.
The Vince Young fiasco, in which owner Bud Adams said publicly that Fisher and Young have to coexist, might have been the last straw. Fisher, according to sources, never wanted Young when he was drafted, a move said to be pushed by the owner. So when he gets into problems with Young, like the one he had earlier this season when Young stormed out of the locker room following an injury-shortened game, it only adds to the tension.
Now Fisher might be forced to keep a player he doesn't want if Adams has his way. That's why there is talk that Fisher wouldn't mind getting canned. He has one year left on his contract after this season and he probably would get a job quickly. If not, he would be great on television until the right job came open and he can take the year to cash the Titans' checks next season.
Whether he wants out or not, it's looking more and more like Fisher's time is coming to an end in Tennessee. Maybe that's not a bad thing. He has had a nice run, a tenure that most coaches would kill to get in one place.
Nobody doubts Fisher as a coach, but Fisher as Titans coach can now be doubted.
It will be weird not seeing Fisher on the Titans' sidelines. But it also might be the best thing for both sides.
